Waiting on the Road

The film follows Madame Lili, the owner of a roadside brothel known as "Beiço de Estrada." As modernization sweeps through Brazil, Lili faces the deterioration of her business after her three daughters abandon her, leaving her to care for her two grandchildren, Brás and Conceição. Brás tries to keep the trucks coming by digging holes in the road, while Conceição's future is shaped by her grandmother's desire to marry her off and break the cycle of prostitution in the family.

Meota, an old truck driver played by Jackson Antunes, frequently visits the brothel in hopes of winning Conceição's heart, navigating the complexities of family and societal expectations. The film presents a raw and intimate portrait of life in a changing Brazil, highlighting the struggles of its characters as they confront their fates in a rapidly evolving landscape.
