What Price Taxi, directed by Del Lord, is a quirky little comedy that really captures that early '30s vibe. The film revolves around Billy, who’s quite the hothead, and his antics create a ruckus for fellow cabbies Franklin and Clyde. The pacing feels brisk, typical for the era, with a solid mix of slapstick and situational humor. The performances are, well, kind of over-the-top but in a good way, lending an authentic charm that makes it stand out. Not to mention, there are some clever practical effects that add to the visual gags. It’s a light watch, but somehow it nails the frustrations of the everyday working man. You can definitely see the seeds of the workplace comedy genre here.
