Whispers and Shoulders

"Whispers and Shoulders" is an experimental short film that runs for twenty-six minutes. It is conceived by JOOJ, a collaboration between Sook-Yin Lee and Adam Litovitz. The film repurposes raw footage from the music video "Shoulders and Whispers," originally directed by Brandon Cronenberg.

This work transforms the music video's images into a voiceless exploration, presenting figures in a state of suspended animation. Unlike the original three-minute black-and-white video that features a fixed shot duration and a slow pan, "Whispers and Shoulders" employs richly-saturated color and embraces repetitiveness. This stark contrast invites viewers to experience the visual narrative in a new and unexpected way.
