Wired is an oddity, to say the least. Directed by Larry Peerce, it’s a strange blend of comedy, drama, and fantasy, all wrapped around the ghost of John Belushi. The film takes an unfiltered look at Belushi's chaotic life—his highs and lows, using a sort of ethereal narration that’s both haunting and oddly humorous. The pacing feels uneven at times, but that adds to its quirky charm. The practical effects, while not groundbreaking, have a certain tangible quality that contrasts with the more surreal elements. The performances, particularly by Michael Chiklis as Belushi, carry a raw intensity that feels genuine. It's not exactly a straightforward biopic; it’s more like a tribute infused with a ghostly introspection.
Released by New World Pictures in 1989.Cinematography by Janusz Kamiński, later known for Spielberg films.Based on Bob Woodward's book about Belushi's life.Features practical effects typical of late '80s filmmaking.
