Wishcraft has this gritty, almost raw vibe that captures the essence of early 2000s horror. The film leans into the awkwardness of high school life, where Brett, this relatable outcast, stumbles upon a totem that brings his wildest dreams to life. It's interesting how the film explores the darker side of desire; things don’t quite go as planned when his wish for Samantha becomes a double-edged sword. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times but it really adds to that off-kilter atmosphere. The practical effects used for the horror elements are pretty effective, too. The performances, especially from the leads, are endearingly awkward and genuine, which makes the whole scenario hit home.
Interesting take on teenage desires and consequences.Solid practical effects for its time.Captures the awkwardness of high school relationships.
