The story revolves around Andzia, a sixty-year-old woman who has spent her life in a small town. Married at the age of 50 to the owner of an apartment building, she previously raised two children on her own. Despite her modest life as a dishwasher in a restaurant, she finds contentment in small savings and dreams of a better future for her children.

Set against the backdrop of wartime occupation, Andzia's experiences reflect the challenges faced by women of her era.
