The film features four distinct narratives, each examining the challenges faced by women in the late 18th and 19th centuries. In 'Wives Should Be Submissive,' a father attempts to marry his daughter into affluence, reflecting the pressures of family dynamics. The second story, 'A Daughter-In-Law Is No Better Than A Stranger,' portrays a mother’s jealousy leading her to contemplate violence against her daughter-in-law.

The third segment, '7 Grounds For Divorce,' tells the tale of a wife's affair with her servant, prompted by her husband's impotence. Finally, 'Prohibit Sex In Court' highlights the precarious position of a concubine whose child’s lineage is questioned, showing the dangerous intersections of love and power.
