Women's Prison

This film explores the harsh realities of life in an Iranian women's prison through the perspectives of a devout Muslim warden and a young midwife named Mitra. Mitra, who is incarcerated for killing her mother's abusive husband, faces severe punishments from the warden in her early years. The story intensifies as Mitra delivers a baby during an Iraqi bombing, showcasing her resilience and strength amid adversity.

As the years pass, the warden's attitude toward Mitra evolves, particularly when Mitra intervenes to protect a new inmate from the threats of older cellmates. This change in dynamic highlights themes of respect and understanding that emerge over time. The narrative culminates when the baby, now a troubled 17-year-old named Sepideh, re-enters the prison, prompting the warden to take a protective stance towards her, further complicating the relationships within the prison's confines.
