Wordless (1996) is a unique blend of comedy and romance that really plays with the idea of communication barriers. The protagonist, Celestino, is charmingly portrayed as a guy who can't seem to express himself due to his strange dialect. Enter Rosetta, the deaf girl who captivates him. It’s quite interesting how Celestino learns sign language, and then fakes being deaf, which leads to some awkwardly funny situations. The pacing has this light, breezy rhythm that keeps you engaged. The performances, while not flashy, feel genuine and grounded, adding depth to a story that could've easily become a farce. It's a distinctive take on love and understanding, wrapped in a light-hearted tone, striking that balance between comedy and heartfelt moments.
Interesting take on communication barriers.Lighthearted yet thoughtful atmosphere.Genuine performances enhance the story.
