Youssef and Zeinab

The story follows Youssef, a teacher who experiences heartache after his schoolgirl sweetheart, Laila Alawi, marries a wealthy man and migrates to America. Faced with his own journey, Youssef travels to the Maldives to work as an Arabic language and Islamic religion teacher.

In the Maldives, he resides with Wahid, a librarian fluent in Arabic. As the narrative unfolds, Youssef finds himself drawn to Zainab, an Indian Muslim girl, complicating his emotional landscape. The film delves into relationships and the impact of migration, set against the backdrop of the picturesque Indian Ocean.
