The narrative unfolds at an airport in Bandung, a fictional city in Southeast Asia. Czech tour guide Tomáš Egermaier witnesses the arrest of 21-year-old Patrik Lovický for attempting to smuggle four kilograms of heroin. Egermaier later discovers five videotapes that reveal the story of Patrik, his girlfriend Elena, and her mother Michaela.

With a focus on the consequences of drug smuggling and its impact on personal lives, Zatracení offers an engaging look into the darker sides of travel and human relationships.
